St. John's Boys' Cross Country ran into a formidable opponent at the SPC South Zone meet, held at St. Andrew's School in Austin this past Saturday. St. John's top three runners, Drew Woodfolk '18, Sam Ho '18, and Sam Faraguna '19 finished 4th, 5th, and 6th respectively. Woodfolk posted a time of 16:17.8. on the same course where the Mavericks won their last two SPC championships. Pearse Higgason '18 finished 14th overall followed by Davis Thames '20 in 18th to round out the team tally of 47 points, second to St. Stephen's 41 first place total. Along with the top five boys finishers for St. John's, James Talbott '18 (20) received All South-Zone honors. St. Stephen's top two boys' runners took first and second place with times of 15:36.4 and 15:53.3 respectively. Their last three finished 11th, 12th, and 15th, enough for the win. The Maverick boys are looking to extend their SPC title run to four consecutive championships. St. John's Girls' Cross Country also finished in second place (74 points) on the heels of second place finisher Jordan Kramer '18 (19:33.8). In addition to Kramer, Hannah Johnston '18 (13), Catie Beck '20 (18), and Erin Oldham '20 (20) received All South-Zone honors. The 2017 conference meet will be held at the Athletic Performance Ranch in Fort Worth on November 11.
