Instrumental

St. John's offers Middle School students a vast array of instrumental music opportunities. For starters, there's Beginner Band, open to Middle School students who are interested in learning to play a wind instrument (oboe, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba). More advanced wind-instrument players can join the Intermediate Band, which performs a repertoire ranging from standard band to pop and jazz. The Middle School Jazz Band is open by audition to more advanced students.

Beginner Strings is offered to all Middle School students interested in learning to play the viola, violin, bass, cello, or harp. There are two performing orchestral ensembles seated by placement in Middle School: Camerata and Sinfonietta.

There are a variety of performances throughout the school year for all instrumental ensembles, including the fall and spring concerts, as well as occasional chapel services. To learn about upcoming concerts, visit our arts calendar.
