Class 6 Mo Ranch Trip

This Class 6 trip marks the beginning of Middle School. Former St. John's Lower Schoolers and new students are mindfully placed into combined groups. Our teachers aim to help each student return to Houston feeling a part of the St. John's community.

For more than twenty years, home base for this 4-day, 3-night experience has been Mo Ranch in Hunt, Texas. Mo's highly trained staff guides our kids through its Environmental Leadership Program. Group leaders challenge and encourage students to set personal and group goals for the various activities, and focus on helping students to communicate and cooperate. The 'challenge by choice' mentality helps students push themselves beyond what they thought they were capable of doing. It often lends itself to raucous and robust support of classmates and teachers alike when goals are reached, fears are faced and overcome!

Beyond the physical and mental challenges presented by the famous Mo Ropes course, many Class 6 students overcome the challenges of sleeping away from home for three nights and all that this entails. Students return to campus having not only made new friends but also having tried things they might never have thought possible. A highlight of the year for many, this trip allows Class 6 students and their teachers to get to know one another extremely well as they launch their Middle School journey together. Hearing students share lessons learned in the post-trip assembly caps off this fun learning experience.
