The Mavericks come home with a win from the Woodlands.
Brenda Mercado
The Mavericks traveled north to the Woodlands to take on their club team. After the drive the Mavericks had a short warm up and were ready to play. From the start of the game the Mavericks controlled the tempo and possessed the ball 85% of the time. Within the first five minutes of the game the Mavericks were able to score two goals. the first goal was scored by Kendall with the assist coming from Chloe. The second goal was a straight shot from Jessica past the goalie on the left side of the cage. The third goal of the first half came at the 16:00 mark when Grace passed the ball to Christina where she sent the ball to the back of the goal. The girls did a great job of passing the ball around and spread the wealth.
In the second half the girls decided we would try and score off corners. At the 22:00 mark of the game the girls set up a beautiful corner. Chloe inserted the ball to April on the left side of the circle where she pushed the ball into the cage four the fourth goal.
Again the defense was stellar. Ginny and Celia did a great job of communication to their teammates about coverage and passing the ball up to the middies. The girls did a great job of distributing the ball and making incredible passes to one another. Final score Mavericks 4 Woodlands 0
Our next game is Wednesday, September 21 at home starting at 5:30 against Memorial.
