Academics Awards Ceremony Recognizes Excellence

In case you are one of the majority of students who missed the Academic Awards Ceremony on May 9, here are the recipients of the nondepartmental awards.
Seniors recognized as Cum Laude are:
Jenny Allen, Alexis Bailey, George Bailey, Veronica Chu, Jack Craddock, Alex Derbyshire, Ariana Dickey, Carson Gibson, Nicolette Groen, Maggie Hansen, Patrick Harrel, Anne Johnson, Atissa Ladjevardian, Zach Long, Ned Lu, John Mace, Patrick Mauel, Louis Mejia, Alexa Mullins, James Pham, Pooja Salhotra, Gabrielle Santiago, Andrew Stadnyk, Ellie Untermeyer, Sarah Urdahl, Angeline Wang, and Kathy Zhu

Jerri Martin and Becky Jay were elected to the Cum Laude Society as honorary members.

Maverick Awards were presented to:
Jerald Barbe, Benjamin Castillas, Dara Ladjevardian, Grace VanLoh, and Isabel Wallace-Green for the freshman class;
Carl Bernicker, Meg Bres, Jeffrey Fastow, Daniel Jellins, and Carson Peacock for the sophomore class;
Walt Baker, Annie Bernica, Maryam Kazemzadeh-Atoufi, Natalie Plummer, Carly Rapp, and Hannah Worscheh for the Junior class; and
Philip Appeddu, Douglas Berkman, Emily Boyce, Chris Gow, John Mace, Patrick Mauel, Alexa Mullins, Pooja Salhotra, Madeline Wareing for the Senior class.

The Gray Marsh SAC Service Award to "recognize that member of the SJS community who has made the most important and consistent contributions to the Student Affairs Council" was presented to SAC sponsor Dan Friedman.
 
The E.K. and Anne Salls Scholarshipwas presented to Anne Johnson and Brandon Steele (both '12).

The Daniel J. Stark Award, "given to a student who has contributed to SJS in unusually innovative and creative ways," was presented to Justin Keeling ('12).

The H. Scott Caven, III Memorial Scholarship Award was presented to Jack Craddock ('12) for embodying "passion for learning, teamwork, good sportsmanship, humility, compassion for others, a positive attitude, integrity, a strong work ethic and a drive for excellence in academics, athletics and leadership."

The Richard Green Memorial Award, determined by a vote of the Upper School students for "repesenting spirited devotion to the School," was presented to Elliot Lapin ('12).

The James J. Murhpy Award, selected by a vote of Upper School faculty, was presented to Catherine Dawson ('12) for her "courtesy, sense of humor, kindess towards others, and loyalty to the school," making SJS a better place to live.

The Headmaster's Award, which is only presented to members of the community who "have shown extraordinary leadership and/or servide that goes above and beyond" and not on an annual basis, was presented to Samantha Heinle and Tom Harvey (both '12).
