On February 16th the Harris County Department of Education honored regional winners of the Scholastic Writing Contest. A number of St. John's 7th and 8th grade students collected awards in a variety of categories including memoir, short story, and flash fiction. Gold Key winners move on to the National Level with winners announced in April and honored at Carnegie Hall in NYC in June.

MS Gold Key winners include Mary Elizabeth Dawson, Courtney Jacobs, Sophie Li, David Lu, Cara Maines, Mia Mirkovic, Annie Ren, Margaret Trautner, and Francie Williams.

Silver Key winners include Chapman Caddell,Libby Carr,Arjun Guru, Cyrus Lee,Sunnie Liu,Brooke Lummis,Christian Maines, Lena Musallam, Matthew Neal, Nolan Peacock, Renee Roberts, Lauren Smith, James Southwick, and Jaelynn Walls.

Honorable Mentions include Gabrielle Clonts, Isabelle Draper, Eric Gao, Justin Kao, Jacqueline Ma, Jordan McLemore-Moon, Elysa Tulek, and Irene Vazquez.
