Mavericks defeat "Evil Empire from the West" - Kinkaid

Dan Muschalik
The St. John's Mavericks traveled west last night to play arch rival Kinkaid at Paul Barnhart Stadium and came away with a 27-16 victory.  The Mavericks bent but did not break on defense the entire evening as big hits were delivered by both teams until the final play of the game.
Offensively, the Falcons opened the game on a long run on the second play from scrimmage to take an early 7-0 lead.  The Mavericks came right back as they executed their no huddle offense and marched down the field to tie up the score on a pass play on 4th and goal from QB Josh Winslow to TE John Cialone.
The Mavericks tacked on three more scores on the evening on a keeper from Josh, TB Jack Waller, and a late 4th quarter score by FB Rush Moody.
Reed Daniel picked off his 4th pass of the season to help thwart a Falcon drive.

Congratulations to the entire team, parents and coaching staff on a very successful season.  The Mavericks finish the season 8-1 overall and won both games against Kinkaid this season.
