Boys Start well at Lutheran South Pioneer Relays

The Boys team got off to a good start at a cold, windy Lutheran South Pioneer Relays at Deer Park HS. The Performer of the Meet for St. John's was Rudy Reynolds, and Most Improved was Steven Dickerson! Rudy Reynolds won the 800 meters and anchored the winning 4 x 800 and second place 4 x 400 relays. Nick Finnegan won the 1600 meters as well as running the fastest leg on the 4 x 800. Nick Whitaker and Rohan Balsaver also ran the 4 x 800. Mike Marek finished second in the 3200 meters. In the field events, Michael Sims, Wesley Cowan and Jonathan Adkins all threw Personal Bests, as did Sims in the Shot Put to finish 7th. Blaine Finley jumped an outdoor PR of 11'6 to finish third in the Pole Vault and Evan Howell PRed in the triple to finish 5th. Freshman Steven Dickerson jumped a PR in the Triple Jump and ran a sensational first 300 Hurdle race to finish 6th. Other track highlights included Evan Howell's second place finish in the 300 Hurdles, Ben Hulet's 4th place finish in the 400 meters, Mike Marek's 6th place in the 1600 meters, and the 4 x 400 Relay team of Blaine Finley, Even Howell, Rohan Balsaver and Rudy Reynolds running a strong race to finish second place! The boys totaled 95 points to finish 4th place in the meet.
