St. John's School seeks candidates for Annual Fund Manager. The position will support the daily operation of the St. John’s Annual Fund which is one of the largest annual funds in the United States for day schools. St. John’s Annual Fund is essential to the operations of the school as it provides funds for a wide range of the School’s ongoing needs. These needs include attracting and retaining outstanding faculty and staff, providing tuition assistance to those who might otherwise not be able to attend St. John’s, and supporting the academic, athletic, and arts programs.
 
The Annual Fund Manager is critical to the Advancement Department in that the Annual Fund program, as in all not-for-profit institutions, is the foundation of the overall fund-raising program. Annual Fund interest and giving patterns help to identify potential candidates for key volunteer roles (board, alumni board, parent’s guild, events volunteers etc.) as well as major gift volunteers and donor prospects for capital and endowment gifts.

Candidates must have a college degree and 3+ years’ experience in fund-raising. Preference will be shown for candidates with experience in an education fund-raising environment - especially in Houston - or with a nationally regarded education institution with a strong advancement program. Experience working with sophisticated and knowledgeable fundraising volunteers is strongly preferred. This position requires strong writing and proofing skills, attention to detail, good phone skills, and extreme organization. The successful candidate has the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task. The position requires demonstrated poise, tact, confidentiality, and diplomacy. Experience in Raiser’s Edge is a strong plus. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, relationship building skills, diplomacy, professionalism, and keen judgment are all necessary to succeed. A high value is placed upon positive culture, enthusiasm and strong belief in supporting the mission of the School. Occasional travel and attendance at a few evening events will be required.
