Led off by Boys' Lacrossefifth place finish, Boys' Golf eighth place finish, and Girls' Golf first SPC title, the rest of the Maverick spring teams battled it out in Big D as the wind swirled around the metroplex on the weekend of Spring SPC.Girls' Tennis won their first SPC title since 2001, while Boys' and Girls' Track & Field both finished runner-up. Girls' Lacrosse and Softball finished 4th. Boys' Tennis landed in 6th and Baseball ended up 10th.
Baseball lost their opener but came back with a win over Houston Christian to advance to the consolation finals losing to Cistercian 7-5 for 10th place. Boys' Tennis went down to the wire in their opener against Casady, losing 3-2 with three out of five matches going to three sets. The team lost their last match against Oakridge also by a score of 3-2 to finsh 6th overall. Softball started strong with a big opening win, but could not rally in time in the semi-finals dropping an 8-4 decision to John Cooper. The team lost their last game to Houston Christian 8-6 to finish 4th. Girls' Lacrosse also won big in their first round game, and could not get past a balanced Hockaday squad and their stalwart goalie play. They were edged out by Kinkaid 9-8 to finish 4th as well. Girls' Tennis pulled out two (3-2) wins to advance to the conference finals for the second consecutive year against host Hockaday. Their 3-2 formula proved enough to defeat the Daisies for their first title since 2001. In Track & Field the Mavericks hit the record books. Genson Hooper Price won the triple jump breaking the school record set by Lee Hampton. He broke the SPC 400 meter record with a time of 48.12. Genson also tied the SPC record in the 100 meters (10.57). He anchored the 4x100 meter relay to another SPC record time of 41.85. The Girls' 4 X 800 and 4 X 100 meter relay school-records were also broken. Additional highlights included Katie Hasley winning the discus, Isabelle Paine winning the 300 hurdles, and Peyton Brown winning the 800 and 1600. In the end both teams finished runner-up.
