Weekend Warriors-NCAA Women's Lacrosse

As St. John’s Mavericks Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse team were ready to draw it up at the 2015 State Championship playoffs on Saturday at Scotty Caven Field, five former Maverick stars were bracket bound in the NCAA Lacrosse Women’s tournaments.  Eden Epner ’14 (Johns Hopkins), Jess Carroll ’11 (Northwestern), Alexa Mullins ’12 (Stanford), Amanda Leavell ’13 (Princeton), and Jack Simmons ’14 (MIT)  joined their teams in search of a championship in the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse field.

Epner’s Blue Jays lost to Penn State 14-11.  Carroll’s Wildcats defeated Louisville 10-7 and Notre Dame 16-11 to advance to the quarter finals losing to Maryland 17-5. Mullins and the Stanford Cardinal lost to Florida 15-10.  Leavell and the Princeton Tigers defeated Fairfield 18-8 and Stony Brook Sunday 8-4.  The Tigers advance to the quarter finals and lost to Duke 7-3.  Simmons’ Engineers took out Regis College 19-5 and lost to Middlebury 19-9.  
Way to go Mavericks, present and past, your tradition of excellence carries on one more time.
