SPC Final Results: Girls' Lax SPC Champs, Softball, Boys' Track & Field SPC Runner-Up
All St. John's Mavericks' spring teams donned their jerseys to compete and finish strong in Spring SPC Championships in Fort Worth. Girls' Lacrosse defeated ESD 7-5 in overtime to take the Championship trophy to Houston. Softball finished 2nd with a 4-3 loss to EHS. Boys' Track & Field also finished 2nd overall and Girls' Track & Field took 3rd. Boys' Tennis lost 4-3 to St. Mark's to finish 4th, while Girls' Tennis defeated Kinkaid 3-2 for 5th.Baseball won the consolation finals 16-3 over FWCD. Earlier in April Boys' Lacrosse and Girls' Golf finished 2nd. Boys' Golf finished 8th.
2015 Spring SPC continued on Wednesday in Fort Worth as Maverick Baseball (S6) lost 2-1 against Holland Hall (S3). Maverick Track and Field lifted off on Thursday, April 30 at All Saints with the Isabelle Paine '17 taking 6th place in the high jump event. Other notable performances include Lee Hampton's '15 record breaking long jump, Katie Hasley's '17 3rd place in the discuss, Peyton Brown's '17 and Akshay Jaggi's '15 record runs in the 3200 meters, and Lilliian Chen's '16 third place finish in the 3200. Click here for udated meet results. St. John's Softball (S2) took the circle at 10:00 a.m. vs St. Andrew's (S6) and put up 10 runs on the Crusaders to advance to the semi-finals against Kinkaid. In the semi-final the Mavericks continued their offensive onslaught with a 7-0 win over the Falcons to get to to the SPC Championship losing 4-3 to EHS. Boys' Tennis (S2) defeated Casady (N3) 3-2, lost to Greenhill (N1) 5-0 and St. Mark's (N2) 3-2 for fourth place. Girls' Tennis (S1) lost to Holland Hall (N4) 4-1 and defeated Kinkaid 3-2 (S3) for fifth place. Girls' Lacrosse (S1) defeated Greenhill (N4) 18-4, Hockaday (N2) 15-6 and ESD (N1) 7-5 in overtime to be crowned 2015 SPC Champions. Baseball defeated Oakridge (N5) 8-2 to advance and win the consolation finals 16-3 over FWCD. Boys' Lacrosse (S1) finished runner-up on April 11 vs ESD.
