Boys' Varsity Lacrosse participated in the half time presentation of the Patriot Cup Games held on Ford Field at SMU.
Between games against Southlake and Highland Park, Boys' Varsity Lacrosse team stepped on Ford Field at SMU alongside Dartmouth and Sacred Heart for the presentation of the THSLL Bob Patterson Sportsmanship award. "Awarded to the Texas high school program which as brought the most honor to the sport of lacrosse," St. John's 2013 Varsity Lacrosse Team won the award for the first time last season. The 2014 Patriot Cup committee wanted to tie in the importance of the Patterson award with the Wounded Warrior project, the primary beneficiary of the event. Tom Fitzsimmons, SWLOA referee and host committee member, invited the Mavericks to be a part of the festivities. Wounded Warrior spokesperson, Jeffrey Sinchak, spoke to the Maverick team prior to the presentation.
"Honor and integrity are the core principles of serving your country," said Sinchak. "What St. John's has accomplished with the sportsmanship award is a reflection of their school, coaches, players and the program. It represents what is important in competing in sports."
After the Mavericks headed back to Houston, Logan Smith's '13 TCU Horn Frogs played against Texas Tech in the last game of the Cup.
