Caldwell Flores ('11) signed a letter of intent to play NCAA Division 1 football for the SMU Mustangs.   In front of family, Headmaster Mark Desjardins, Athletic Director David Hendricks, Head Football Coach Steve Gleaves and his assistant coaches, Flores announced his next destination: Big D.  Once a Rebel, now a Maverick, Caldwell is inked to be a Mustang.

In his freshman year, Caldwell played football at the wide receiver position on the JV “deuce.”  Three years later in his senior season he rushed for 994 yards and scored 12 touchdowns as the starting tail back for St. John’s.

"I am not sure where they will put me, but regardless, I have to be a play-maker," said Flores.

Before he begins to make plays for SMU at Gerald J. Ford Stadium Caldwell has one more season to pony-up for the Mavericks.  On February 23rd St. John’s faces off against another herd of Mustangs from Kingwood to start the 2011 Boys’ Lacrosse season on Scotty Caven Field.
