SPC Results --Girls Track Wins SPC by 1 point!

Sam Chambers
Destination D1:   All Maverick spring teams made the cut, and more!

Stephanie Guo, Meredith Gamble, Jackie Modesett, and Anne Johnson broke the school 4 * 400 meter record to win the race and the entire SPC meet for girls' track and field.   Prior to the final race, SJ was down by three points to the Knights, whose girls' lacrosse team just beat the Mavericks for their first SPC Championship, a crown dominated by St. John's in the past.

The dynasty of all St. John's SPC sports however, is Girls' Track and Field which now holds a school record of 19 SPC titles.  St. John's won SPC in consecutive years from 1976-1988, and followed with victories in '94, '96, '97, '2000, '2005, and with 50 meters to go Johnson passed the Knights for the 2010 Championship.
The 4 * 400 race was led by the Mavs led most of the way but with 150 meters to go, Episcopal passed Johnson, but there was too much room to recover and A.J. got it done!  For more in the Examiner News click here.

Congratulations to all of the Maverick athletes, coaches, parents, and fans for an awesome showing in D1 this spring!
