Girls' and Boys' Lacrosse, Baseball find their game in the sun of Florida over spring break.
Girls Lacrosse, featured in the recent USLacrosse Magazine, lived up to the hype against Lake Brantley. Both teams were ranked #2 in their state polls before taking the field in Orlando. The Mavericks jumped out to a 3-0 lead and did not look back, holding off the Lady Patriots 9-8 to get a win on the 2009 Florida State Runner ups home field. "Shawn McDonald deserves a lot of credit for keeping us fit enough to win our third regulation game of the day," said Angie Kensinger. Meanwhile St. John's Boys' lax started their trip under the lights against Northfield Mt. Hermon. The Mavericks posted a rare tie, and went on to defeat St. Luke's and Worcester. St. John's only loss came to Westminster's Grit and Grace.
Baseball went the distance in just getting to Orlando. After arriving at 500 am Saturday morning, the Mavs beat Olive Branch, but fell hard to Charlotte Country Day, Mark Reed's new digs. They bounced back against Providence and lost a tight one to Columbus to finish the trip 2-2.
