St. John’s School is seeking an interim Lower School Librarian for the 2025-2026 school year who fosters a love of reading and lifelong learning while serving as a resourceful partner for faculty and students. This position focuses on curating and promoting literature for grades K-5, supporting teachers across disciplines with access to high-quality information and library resources, and cultivating a strong sense of community. In addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates must demonstrate a passion for working with elementary-age students, an engaging teaching style, and a commitment to developing the whole child and furthering the School’s mission, including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion.
Primary responsibilities:
Foster a vibrant and welcoming library space
Teach regularly scheduled classes to students in kindergarten through fifth grade
Partner with teachers to provide services and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, and applying information
Coordinate library parent volunteers
Qualifications:
Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library Information Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA-accredited program preferred
Experience teaching elementary-aged children
Strong knowledge of children’s literature and digital resources
Experience with library management systems and educational technology
