Mavs Win Season Opener

The Mavericks showed tremendous composure in winning their first full-length game of the season.  The Stratford Spartans presented a challenge with their speed.  At times, the Spartans fastest players went the length of the field and straight to goal for scores.  However, the Mavs were able to adjust defensively to force the Spartans to work the ball around in order to create scoring chances, which gave us a chance to get turnovers.  And on offense, we did a nice job of settling and looking patiently for opportunities so that our shots were generally high percentage shots.  In the last several minutes, we kept our composure and protected our lead until time ran out.  A very nice start to the season.
