The Holland Hall Dutch come to Skip Lee Field to take on the Mavericks. St. John's dressed in their red one more time for the seniors last game on Skip Lee Field come out blazing. Risher Randall returns the opening kickoff 32 yards and the offense hits the field on their own 42. Nathan Avery sets the tone carrying the ball the first four plays and Dan Tweardy finishes the series on a 30 yard run for a 6 play 58 yard drive to light up the scoreboard 7-0. The SJS defense shows their prowess as Jonathan Newar picks off a pass and returns it 50 yards to set up the Mavericks next score. Dan Tweardy adds his second score with a 7 yard run as the offense goes 25 yards in 5 plays for a 14-0 lead. The Dutch struggling against the stiff SJS defense with Jack Craddock, John Michael Jones, and Wes Wallace not giving an inch force the punt on 4th and 9. Avery, Tweardy and Chris Gow crank it up again and go 43 yards in 6 plays with Avery getting the touchdown on a 13 yard carry. Tweardy adds the point after and the score of 21-0. The Dutch then mount a drive to start the second quarter and get down to the SJS 34 until Newar comes up with his second interception to say nay to the Dutch attempt. The offense then adds another score as Tweardy finishes a 10 play 80 yard drive with a 12 yard run then adds the point after for a 28-0 score going into haltime. The Mavericks kick off the second half to the Dutch who bring it out to their own 30 as Lee Lazear makes the tackle. Holland Hall was only able to advance the ball to the 50 before John Michael Jones makes another Maverick interception. Keeping up the momentum the Mavs offense covers 63 yards in 5 plays as Chris Gow busts loose for a 47 yard run and a 3 yard run for the score. Tweardy attempt is good and the Mavericks are on top 35-0. The Mavs defense once again shows no mercy as Jake Horowitz, Jack Craddock, Douglas Berkman, John Michael Jones, Wes Wallace and Co. force Holland Hall to another punt. Ben Griffin returns the punt 22 yards. The offense like the defense once again takes the pig skin 63 yards in 6 plays as Nathan Avery plunges into the endzone for another score to bring it to 41-0 to end the third quarter.The fouth quarter continued to be the same as the Mavericks dominated all the way around as Wes Wallace finished the scoring for the Mavs by adding a 33 yard run for a final tally of 48 while the defense finishes with an impressive shutout.
