Casady then went to work showing their offensive skills going 80 yards in 13 plays on their first drive to tie it up 7-7.  Another good return on the ensueing kickoff from Ben Griffin this time put the Mavericks again with good field position. And again St. John's ground attack churned up the distance with Chris gow finishing the attack with a 3 yard score. Tweaqrdy tacked on the extra point and the Mavs went back on top 14-7. St. John's defense took over on the Cyclones second possession handing them a three and out with Wes Wallace making the stop and forcing a punt giving the ball back to the Mavericks to start the second quarter. The SJS veer game kept going with Gow, Tweardy , and Nathan Avery slicing and dicing with the help of the line which included Mitchell Schwartz, Zach Long, Walt Baker, Robby Smith, and Daniels Jellins went 80 yards in 10 plays to score again. Tweardy finished the drive with a 14 yard carry for the touchdown. The PAT failed and the Mavs were up 20-7. Casady mounted another drive  relying on their multi purpose QB running and throwing went 80 yards in 9 plays and finished with a 21 yard pass for the score to bring the tally to 20-14. The defenses took over in the next two series forcing punts for both teams but on Casadys next possession Ben Griffin stepped in front of a pass for an interception and with a great return crossed the goal line for a Maverick touchdown and 27-14 score. The Mavericks were not finished though as the defense made another play on the next series with John Michael Jones picking another pass to get the ball back before half. The offense made good going 67 yards in a minute 44 with Nathan Avery taking it in from the five for a halftime lead of 34-14.
The second half started like the first half left off with the Maverick defense handing the Cyclones a three and out and the offense taking the ball 70 yards in 10 plays. Tweardy added the score with an 18 yard run to bring the lead to 42-14. But Casady was not going to lay down as they fought back on their next attempt to go 80 yards in 8 plays that closed the lead to 41-21. But SJS was not finished yet either as Jack Craddock had an interception and returned to the Cyclone 23. The Mavericks made good on the turnover and Gow finished the short drive with a 1 yard plunge and bring the tally to 48-21. Both teams were not finished as the Mavericks closed the third quarter with another score as Nathan Avery busted loose on a 69 yard scoring run to make it 55-21. In the fourth quarter the Cyclones kept coming and was able to score two more times but the Maverick lead was too much to overcome and the victory goes to St. John's 55-34.
