8th Girls Lax Defeat Clear Lake to Remain Undefeated

The 8th girls lacrosse team finished out their pre-spring break season with a record of 5-0-0, defeating a tough Clear Lake team today 12-7.  Jessica MacNaughton and Olivia Herbert's man marking, with the help of smart defense from Paige Hawley, Joan Schierman, Kristen Fosburg, Maddie Schafer and Sheila Newar, shut down Clear Lake's potent offense, holding them to only 2 goals in the second half.  Goalie Sarah Burkett had several key saves as well, despite having to stare into a setting sun.  On attack, Mae Nasser maintained composure under pressure at first home, and was responsible for several assists.  Goal scoring was led by Catherine Franklin with 6, followed by Olivia Herbert (3), and Cecile Diaz, Caroline Dawson and Sarah Pendergraft, each with 1.  Cecile Diaz had several outstanding draws to help the Mavericks maintain possession of the ball.  After the break, the Mavs will return for games against tough rivals such as Kinkaid and HAXLAX, as they make their way toward the City Finals !!
