Athletic Highlights

The Mavericks defeated St. Francis today in their Semi-Finals match to advance to the city Championship game thursday against cross-town rival Kinkaid, who defeated DASH in an overtime shootout. Hannah Baker scored the only first half goal with an assist from Catherine Franklin. In the second half, Olivia Herbert cushioned the lead with a second assist from Franklin to put the Mavericks in the lead to stay. Defensively, the Mavericks chalked up their 8th shutout of the season with several saves by goalie Lauren Wilson and a spectacular goal save by defender Katharine Romfelt. Several players had an outstanding game and the victory was a true team effort. The Mavericks will go for the Championship Thursday at 4:00 against Kinkaid at Kinkaid.
