The Mavericks were too much for the Chargers, as they were able to take victory from Duchesne at their home field. The first half ended in a scoreless draw; but at the second half whistle, the team put their nose to the grindstone, and quickly put the Chargers on their heels. Paige Hawley scored the lone goal with some scrappy and aggressive play, putting the Mavs in control. The Maverick defense played an exceptional game, led by Lauren Wilson in goal who had several more convincing saves. She was helped in front by the dynamic trio of Katharine Romfelt, Joan Scheirman and Hayden Foutch who with Margaret Mauel's assistance, denied the Chargers many offensive opportunities. The midfield, led by Charlotte Iupe, Catherine Franklin and Janie Wilde pressed the ball into Duchesne's defensive half, where forwards Caroline Dawson and Olivia Herbert helped keep pressure on the Duchesne goalkeeper. Susan Frost added picture perfect attack positioning, and Hannah Baker just missed on a few scorong opportunities. Assisting in the second half's dominant attack were Annie Gallay, Maura Lindsay and Meagan Longoria. Newcomer to the team Daisy Wolf put in an impressive performance, helping to steal one goal opportunity from Duchesne late in the game. Congratulations to all the players who helped put another win on the books and good luck later this week against ROB, SFE and the Mom's!
