All Kindergarten students and their parent(s), all NEW Class One- Class Five students and their parent(s), should attend this event. To prepare for the first day of school, all new students should come dressed in their school uniform. When your family arrives on campus, please park in the Taub Lot at the corner of Buffalo Speedway and Westheimer. Once you have parked, use the crosswalk to proceed to South Campus via Gate 6. Orientation will begin in the LS Cafeteria, located at the center of our LS campus. Once your family checks in, students will proceed to the classrooms with their teachers, while parents will remain in the cafeteria. 5:45-6:25 PM: Upper School Parent Check-in (Flores Hall, Campus Center)
When you arrive on campus, please check in at Flores Hall to receive your child’s schedule for the evening and a campus map (check in: 5:45 - 6:25 PM). You will first go to your child’s Advisory from 6:30 PM to 6:35 PM; after that, you will attend each of your child’s classes. Each class period will last six (6) minutes, with six (6) minutes for a “passing period” to go from one class to the next. There will be an announcement on the PA to notify you to move to your next obligation. We know “Q,” “S,” and “M” building labels can be tricky, but do not worry—members of our Student Affairs Council (SAC) will be strategically located throughout the hallways and prepared to direct you as needed.
6:10-6:20 PM: Parents may meet Ensemble directors/co-curricular activities in the following locations:
*Note: This meeting time is for parents whose children participate in Debate, Quadrangle, or The Review during the Ensemble periods (which occur before school or during the daVinci Period). If your student has Review or Quadrangle slotted into their daily schedule as a course, please plan to meet the faculty sponsor during that assigned period.
