Tom McLaughlin Named Head of Lower School

On the morning of Monday, November 12, Lower School students and faculty circled around the flagpole and cheered when Tom McLaughlin was named SJS Head of Lower School. Chids, the Maverick mascot, was there to greet Tom and present a Mavericks hat and shirt to him. In an email to Lower School families, Headmaster Mark Desjardins stated "I am extremely pleased to announce that Tom McLaughlin has been named the permanent Head of Lower School as of today. I just returned from making the announcement to Lower School students and faculty as they gathered around the flagpole. Their robust cheers and loud applause are a testament to how quickly Tom has bonded with our community."

Tom joined the St. John's School community at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year as Interim Head of Lower School. Over the past few weeks, he formally entered into the search process to be considered the permanent Head of Lower School. Desjardins continued, "We received high praise and affirming feedback from faculty, administrators, and parents. We look forward to having both Tom and his wife, Jolyn, as active members of our St. John's community for years to come."
