MS Play: Chasing Charming

Performances of the MS play Chasing Charming were held last week. Fifty-four MS students participated in the topsy-turvy twist on traditional princess fairytales, written by Alaska Reece Vance. In this comedy, a fledgling narrator (Charlotte Curtin) discovers Prince Charming has been kidnapped by the evil witch Hagragard (Natalie Brown). The Narrator struggles to save her family honor while her well-meaning Fairy Godmother (Meridian Monthy) mistakenly sends not one, but six fairytale princesses (plus Goldilocks!) to the rescue.

The cast featured Abigail Poag, Lauryn Kapiloff, Addie Fairbanks, Remi Clonts, Mac Bechtol, and Saviana Augustine as the Princesses, Noelle Alexander as Goldilocks, Abby Walker as Lead Minion, Thomas Chang as Wolf, and Drew Adams as S-Secnirp. Julia Wykoff and Matthew Lee played the witch’s children. Curtis Donovan, Lauren Aguilar and Lucy Haire played the Bear Family, and Amelia Schueppert played the trusted Sign. The role of Prince Charming was dual cast, played by Ado Ibori (Thursday show) and Casey Propst (Friday show). Ellie Eikenburg, Isabella Gidi, Maggie Miller, and Adele Wan played the Magic Dancers.

Alex Arizpe directed the performance and was assisted by: Teresa Fogler, costumes; Alice Fogler, assistant director; BJ Garmon, light design; Jamie Adams, sound. Student Assistant Stage Managers Catherine Elrod, Brianna Baskin, Jared Margolis, and Ashley Kim were joined by a technical crew from Johnnycake.
