Win over Kinkaid: Recap

The MS softball team picked up a great win against Kinkaid yesterday.  The Mavericks hung on to a 3-2 lead to pick up their first league win.  

Natalie Stone led off the game for the Mavs with a single, a stolen base and then scoring on a bunt by Sophie Lazear.  Natalie also had 4 put outs on throws to first including a double play off a line drive.  Julia Waller struck out 2 batters and only allowed 2 walks.  Julia also had 2 hits and a run for the Mavs.  Morgan Self had a spectacular first inning fielding all three outs with throws from 2nd to first.  Laurel McKelvey hit 2 singles and scored 2 runs of the Mavericks 3 runs.  Other highlights included Sophie's solid play at first base receiving 9 put out throws from her fielders,Isabel Karohl 's defensive play  fielding a hit to 3rd and making the put out on a throw to first.  Mary Martha McClay reached base twice with 2 walks.  Noel Madland reached first after being hit by a pitch.  Thank God for those batting helmets.

The team plays St. Michael's today in our last league contest before starting the league championship tournament next Tuesday.  Good Luck today girls!
