The Mavericks rose to the occasion on Saturday, October 9. In spite of missing a few usual front-runners, the girls dominated the competition, easily winning the 29th running of the Ramble. The new course was unfamiliar to all the runners. It’s a challenging 2-mile course with a few hills and some tricky turns. Eighth grader Mary Harvey was the first Maverick to finish the 2-mile race, coming in in 2nd place with a time of 13:42. Leah Vogel (7th grade) was close behind, finishing 3rd with a time of 13:53. Close behind Leah were 8th grader Jennifer Melcher in 6th place with a time of 14:42, 7th grader Lauren Jhin in 7th place with a time of 14:43, and 7th grader Noel Higgason, also with a time of 14:43.
The girls’ tightly packed finish resulted in a fantastic team score of 26 points, easily besting 2nd place River Oaks Baptist’s score of 37. Excellent job, Mavericks!
Look for another excellent performance from our Mighty Mavericks on Thursday, October 21 at the Dolphin Dash at TC Jester Park!
