May Day Call Not in Time for Mavericks

Sam Chambers
After winning the first THSLL Super Regional game on Saturday against Westlake, St. John's was not super enough on Sunday vs Highland Park, falling 19-5 to the Scots.
St. John's finished their season with the active roster of seniors on the field against Highland Park.  Reed Daniel, William Payne, Walker Hobby, John Ytterberg, Robin Doody, Jett Williams, William Jewett, Max Susman, and Clay Callaway had their "Senior" moment protecting the lone freshman, Scott Hereford in the goal while Daniel picked up his second score of the day.  Rush Moody, Zach Gaitz, and Andrew Mintz could only look on to see the season and the lacrosse careers of the seniors run out with the clock, but great memories will last forever.

Highlights for the Mavericks included:
  • Winning the opener
  • Winning the SPC South
  • Getting the Mavs on the City Cup (19 out of 23 years)
  • Winning the first Super Regional Game in Texas
  • Playing in May
Hats off to these Mavericks.  They did the best with what they had and more.

"One, two, three, CHICO!"
