One More for SJS

Sam Chambers
In the battle of the SJ's, Mavericks finish off Crusaders.
St. John's took Caven Field on Wednesday night to start a four game home stand.  The Mavericks brought out the scarlet and black on the bleachers, while the field looked playoff ready.  Bruce Warren, St. John's "greens keeper," put it simply, "Rueben and I have it looking good, now it is up to the team."
From start to finish, the boys in white would do what it took to keep Bruce and Rueben off their backs and perform for the home crowd.
It was a tight one from start to finish.  The Mavs went up 3-2 at the first, 4-3 at half, and after Strake tied it up 4-4 in the third, Reed Daniel found sidekick William Payne for the game winner in the fourth period.
Team defense, led by John Ytterberg, kept the Crusaders out of the net, while Daniel won 7 face offs, picked up 10 gb's, scored and assisted on two goals for St. John's.
This Wednesday, the Mavericks will face off on Caven against Kinkaid with a SPC Division 1 ticket on the line.
