After a dramatic and emotional victory yesterday, the Mavericks were confident and ready to take on EHS.  As against Kinkaid, the Mavericks played the kind of hockey that makes for great spectating: fast paced, skilled, confident and poised, pass and possession style hockey.  Right off the bat (1'20" into the match), the Mavericks earned a penalty corner, and with perfect execution, Donnelly drew the flyer and dumped left with perfect timing to Harrison, whose shot on post was redirected into the goal by a vigilant Claire Smith.  Later in the first half, after a goalie clear from Elizabeth Blanton, Kelly Harrison controlled the ball out of the Maverick defensive area and sent it up the right sideline to Ali Bland who, on a fast break, dribbled into the EHS 16' circle, drew the goalie off her line, dumped the ball left to Catherine Franklin, who redirected farther left to Sophie Golvach waiting on the far post for the subsequent backboard slam.  The rest of the game was a brilliant show from the entire Maverick squad.  Congratulations on a great season to everyone -  to the Juniors: Carolyn Prioleau, Sarah Jewett, Hallie Crawford, Jessica Chen, Mackie Bushong, Burkley Wombwell and Sarah King; the Sophomores: Kelley Harrison and Shanice Beasley; the Freshman: Catherine Franklin, and finally to all the Seniors, especially the 3 captains, whose hard work and leadership helped make for such a great season: Kate Donnelly (C), Claire Smith (C), Sarah Daniel (C), Sophie Golvach, Alison Bland, Kirstin Scott, Hannah Jeffers, Emily Weber, Mary Martha Davis, Elizabeth Blanton, Maggie McDaniel and Hannah Herzog.
