Middle School History Teacher (starting August 2023)
We are looking for passionate educators to join our community who know how to support middle school students and are committed to teaching the whole child. The ideal history teacher engages in varied pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning while understanding differentiated instruction. We seek teachers who have the flexibility to teach any middle school history-level course, understand the importance of developing student research skills, and value working in a highly collaborative teaching and learning environment. Candidates should be comfortable working with students with a range of academic capabilities and be open to their continued professional growth. We seek individuals who support the school’s Mission and its Precepts and Principles.

Key Responsibilities:
Teach a course load of 4 sections
Serve as an advisor for 12-14 students annually and guide and support the Social-Emotional Learning program.
Work as a collaborative member of a grade-level and departmental team.
Participate in a weeklong, grade-level overnight trip annually
Engage in shared middle school responsibilities and duties, including our DaVinci activity periods and study halls.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in history, social studies, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum three years of prior, relevant classroom teaching experience teaching middle school students.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
An understanding and commitment to cultural competency and how to support a diverse student population of learners. Understanding curriculum design and development is a plus.
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Proficient in using technology, including Promethean Boards and the Google platform.
