St. John's Announces New Boys' Head Basketball Coach

We have been working hard to get around the multiple challenges associated with the COVID-19 virus and are excited to share the good news that Taylor Green will be the new Boys' Head Basketball Coach. Coach Green will officially start his duties with St. John's on August 1, 2020.

Coach Green is currently the Director of Men's Basketball Operations at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), a role he has held since 2014. Coach Green has been involved in every aspect of the Bears basketball operations, including serving as the interim head coach in 2016 through the transition that saw Jeff Linder become 19th head coach in program history. Linder has quickly emerged as one of the most innovative offensive minds in college basketball, earning Big Sky Coach of the Year in 2019.

During his tenure at UNC, Coach Green has been responsible for the development of Big Sky Conference All-Conference players Tevin Svihovec, Anthony Johnson, Big Sky MVPs Jordan Davis, and Andre Spight, as well as two-time Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year Jonah Radebaugh.

Coach Green is already familiar with the SPC having served as an assistant coach at St. Mark's School of Texas. During the 2012-2013 season, the coaching staff won the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches High School Most Outstanding Coaching Staff Award. Coach Green also spent time on the athletics staff of Southern Methodist University under the direction of Head Coach Larry Brown.

Coach Green is a high-energy kid-connector whose emphasis on character, fundamentals, and teamwork makes him an ideal fit for St. John's. Originally from Wichita, KS, Green earned his Bachelor's degree in finance and business management from Baker University in Baldwin City, KS. He currently resides in Greeley, CO with his wife, Larin, and his daughters, Phoenix and Kendrix.

Once the dust settles from COVID-19, we will hold a reception to welcome Coach Green and provide the opportunity for him to meet and speak with all players in our program. It's an exciting time for Maverick basketball!

Sincerely,

Vince Arduini
Director of Athletics
