Book Fair: Celebrating Literacy

SJS Book Fair 2019 was a one-day event filled with good books, exciting authors, and family fun. Authors Elana K. Arnold and Zachariah OHora visited the Lower School, while Pablo Cartaya visited the Middle School. Middle School students also continued their Day of Reading tradition by showing up to school with pillows, blankets, and books on Thursday – no backpacks or textbooks were needed.

In the Upper School assembly, Alison Wright spoke to students about her work as an author and documentary photographer. Wright's book Face to Face: Portraits of the Human Spirit is a culmination of experiences from traveling the globe collecting images for humanitarian organizations and publications.

The all-day celebration of reading ended with a community meal in Flores Hall. Our amazing Food Services team served burgers and hotdogs while Popfancy popsicles were available for dessert. It was the perfect night to stay indoors and settle in a bean bag with a good book! A special thank you goes to all of the Parents' Guild volunteers who made it such a successful event, especially 2019 Co-Chairs Andria Kozak and Katie Nguyen.
