Middle School Team Wins Quiz Bowl
At the 10th Annual Texas State Championship held Saturday at Strake Jesuit, St. John's won the first place for the first time in the history of the tournament. Team members Shreyes Balachandran '24, Arjun Maitra '24, Jay Love '23, and Caden Juang '23 decisively defeated St. Mark's Episcopal of Dallas in the finals and took home the championship trophy.
St. John's B-team competed in the Open Division and won 4th place in the field of 15 teams. Congratulations to Isabel Soliman '23, James Li '23, Axel Johnson '23, and Jack Lang '24 on this great result.
In the Elementary Division, our Class 6 team (Ayaan Dhuka '25, Maxime Gonzales '25, Ty Larsen '25, Enbao Cao '25, and Caiman Moreno-Earle '25) had a strong showing in the first half of the tournament and finished in 5th place overall.
A special thank you to Upper School students and former MS Quiz Bowl players Alex Adrogue '20 and Tyler King '21 for helping coach the teams on Saturday. We are very proud of all of our players! Looking ahead, St. John's has two teams preparing to travel to Chicago in May to represent the School in the National Championship.
