St. John's defeated Kinkaid yesterday at Kinkaid in a very exciting and very close dual. It came down to the number 2 doubles of Shelby and Sara. After we were up 5 - 2 in the third set, Kinkaid fought their way back into the match and went up 6-5 with the opportunity of closing the match, but our girls would simply not allow that to happen. After we were down 2-5 in the tiebreaker, it was Shelby's and Sara's turn to fight their way back by winning 5 points in a row and taking the tiebreaker 7-5. With the win the Mavericks defeated the Falcons 3-2. We also took line 1 doubles with Hannah Chang and Betsy winning a very close match 6-4 7-6. Our third win came from Kat Johnston who had no problem disposing of her opponent 6-1 6-0. Sophia and Hannah J. had very tough opponents yesterday and even though I don't feel that Sophia and Hannah were at their best, I must give our opponents credit. They did play very good tennis yesterday. St. John's resumes SPC match against St. Stephen's this Friday at Lost Forest. Go Mavs!!!
