After having received a Gold Key at the regional level, Iris’s science fiction story was recognized with a national Silver Award. Cara, who earned a Gold Key at the regional level, received a national Gold Award for her personal narrative essay. Cara’s writing garnered even greater notoriety at the national level by receiving a B.I.G. AWARD (Best In Grade). The Alliance will provide $500 scholarships to 2 artists and 2 writers for each grade level (7–12), and Cara is among them.

The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, which administers the awards, will honor national winners at a special ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 31.
