Yesterday was the 36th anniversary of the death of Frank McMurrey, former PV record holder and the athlete whose name graces the track at St. John's School and who is honored with the Frank McMurrey Award for Athletic Excellence in Boys Track & Field.  Each year tulips are planted around the memorial in his honor at the request of his mother, the late Odette Hemingway McMurrey.   The dedicattion of The Frank McMurrey Memorial Track in took place in 1975.

The monument reads: "Dedicated to Frank by the many who loved him, and to those who follow him here who share his desire to excel and his joy in sport."  There is also a quote by Frank McMurrey beneath it.  Please go by and read it in person.
