St. John's Beats Episcopal

Pat Krieger
Early Season Game vs South Zone Rival
Playing Episcopal is always a challenge, especially with Amanda Reese, the athletic EHS athlete who will take her basketball game to Georgetown next fall.  But St. John's was up for this early season test, and the Mavs earned a solid victory in the small second gym at John Cooper.  SJS dominated the first half of play with unselfish passing, communicative defense, and solid rebounding.  The second half was a bit more challenging as the Knight made several runs, with Reese scoring big points in the key.  Compounding EHS's increased scoring, SJS hit one of their scoring droughts, and only tallied 5 points in the 3rd quarter.  Shots were abundant, but basket were scarce.

St. John's closed out the game with some solid play, but certainly found some things to work on.  Some more solid individual stats from VA - 18 points, 12 boards, 4 steals, and an assist.  Chinna had 13 points, 4 steals and 4 assists.  EHS will be in our sights, and the team will have to play solidly to earn that win in South Zone play.
