We are looking for passionate educators to join our community who know how to support middle school students and are committed to teaching the whole child. The ideal Latin teacher engages in experiential, inquiry-based pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning while understanding differentiated instruction. We seek teachers who have the flexibility to teach any middle school level Latin course (through high school level 1) and value working in a highly collaborative teaching and learning environment. St. John’s School seeks individuals passionate about teaching and learning who are excited by collaborating with colleagues and supporting students' intellectual curiosity and social-emotional development. We are interested in supporting faculty who see themselves as lifelong learners interested in innovation in curriculum and who model a love of world languages and discovery for our students. We expect community members to engage in conversations that support ongoing professional development in their disciplines, embrace interdisciplinary opportunities, and help further our school’s strategic initiatives, including community and inclusion.

  • Teach a course load of 4-5 sections of Latin.
  • Serve as an advisor for 12-14 students annually and guide and support the Social-Emotional Learning program.

  • Participate in a weeklong, grade-level overnight trip annually
  • Engage in shared middle school responsibilities and duties, including our DaVinci activity periods, study halls, and student supervision.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Latin, Classics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years of relevant classroom teaching experience teaching middle school-aged students.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community.
