St. John’s School is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative upper elementary music teacher. The ideal candidate has a strong background in choral-based instruction and experience with theatre production. In addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates must demonstrate a passion for working with elementary-aged students, an engaging teaching style, and a commitment to developing the whole child and furthering the School’s mission, including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion. St. John’s seeks innovative and reflective educators open to feedback and eager for professional collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities: ● Teach music to upper elementary students (Classes Three-Five) ● Co-direct an elementary choir and annual musical theatre productions ● Collaborate closely with the grade-level teams and K-12 Fine Arts colleagues to ensure alignment of the curriculum and best instructional practices ● Contribute to the Lower School community by engaging in shared responsibilities and duties outside the classroom
Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in music or music education; Master’s degree preferred ● Kodály Certification ● Minimum of three years of teaching experience
