Mavericks open with tough loss to 5A power
For the first time in history, the Mavericks opened the season in one of the premier area tournaments in the Greater Houston Area, the Katy ISD Round Robin.
The Mavericks faced the Klein Bearcats a 5A Texas public school team. The Mavs worked hard and stayed in the game the entire way. The Mavs gave up two unearned runs, but gave the Bearcats all they could handle on the day.
Carson Black, Courtnay Buaas, Brooke Upchurch and Emily Entrekin all had one hit. Jessica Vlasek and Paige Killelea had two hits each.
Paige recorded 3 strikeouts and issued zero walks on the day.
