Interim Lower School Librarian (2025-2026)

St. John’s School is seeking an interim Lower School Librarian for the 2025-2026 school year who fosters a love of reading and lifelong learning while serving as a resourceful partner for faculty and students. This position focuses on curating and promoting literature for grades K-5, supporting teachers across disciplines with access to high-quality information and library resources, and cultivating a strong sense of community. In addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates must demonstrate a passion for working with elementary-age students, an engaging teaching style, and a commitment to developing the whole child and furthering the School’s mission, including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion. 

Primary responsibilities:
  • Foster a vibrant and welcoming library space
  • Teach regularly scheduled classes to students in kindergarten through fifth grade 
  • Partner with teachers to provide services and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, and applying information
  • Coordinate library parent volunteers
Qualifications:
  • Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library Information Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA-accredited program preferred
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged children
  • Strong knowledge of children’s literature and digital resources
  • Experience with library management systems and educational technology
