. Graduates, please plan to arrive by 7 PM
and meet at the back of Skip Lee Field, by the scoreboard, in order to line up.
The procession will begin at 7:20 PM and will follow COVID protocol (more details to follow). Seating will open at 6:30 PM, and we ask that parents be seated in advance of the procession.
There will not be a rehearsal for students; instead, a video explaining the procession and seating logistics will be sent out on Wednesday, May 26. Masks: A mask or a face covering must be worn by all attendees
. Graduates will have the option to take their mask off when they cross the stage to receive their diploma and take their picture. After the photograph has been taken, graduates must put their mask back on before returning to their assigned chair.
All attendees will be asked to adhere to social distancing protocol before and after the ceremony.Parking for Graduates and Family Members:
We ask that graduates and their families arrive together
in as few vehicles as possible. Parking is only available in the Taub Lot (and the Taub Lot parking garage)
. We ask that graduates and their families arrive together in as few vehicles as possible. SJS Security will help students and family members cross Buffalo Speedway safely. If in need of accessible parking, please enter through Gate 9 on West Alabama to park in the VST parking lot and have your accessible parking placard visible.
- Graduates: you will have an assigned seat (in alphabetical order) in a special section near the stage.
Commencement attire: cap and gown will be distributed in advance on campus prior to the event date. Attire Under Gowns: You may wear comfortable clothes (including shorts and short sleeved/collared shirts) under your gown. Please do not wear flip flops. Keep in mind that you will be ascending/descending stairs at Commencement and high heels can be tricky on the field.
- Seating for family members of graduates is on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. Groupings of 7 chairs will be set up for each graduate's family and friends. Each family chair grouping will be social-distanced from other family’s chair groupings. If you have more than 7 family members or guests who would like to attend, we will also have overflow seating in the bleachers (social-distanced). Accessible seating will be available and can be reserved by contacting Michelle Narciza.
If a graduate or attendee has recently tested positive for COVID-19, please do not attend Commencement in person. Commencement will be recorded and livestreamed--the link for the livestream can be found here.
All Class of 2021 names will be read, regardless of if the graduate is able to attend or not.
