  • Candlelight

    The Candlelight service is a St. John's holiday season tradition. Volunteers help decorate for the evening service. 

    Time commitment: 1.5-3 hours

  • Mailings

    This committee helps assemble mailings for school events throughout the year, including SJS vs. Kinkaid game and Grandparents and Special Friends Day.

    Time commitment: Typically, volunteers are needed once or twice a year for two-hour mailing sessions.

  • SJS vs. Kinkaid Family Picnic

    The picnic will take place in the Greenbriar parking lot at the Rice University Stadium before the Kinkaid game on October 28. Volunteers are needed to set up decorations, distribute meal and game tickets, and assist with event clean-up.

    Time commitment: 30 min-2 hours.

  • Thanksgiving Pies

    Volunteers will assist with distributing pies as a show of appreciation to faculty and staff on the last day of school prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. Help continue this long-standing SJS tradition!

    Time commitment: 2-4 hours.

  • Used Uniforms

    Volunteers are needed to manage the Used Uniform Sales by sorting donated uniforms and organizing them for sale in the Used Uniform closet (Q205A: upstairs in Farish Hall on the Upper School campus). All proceeds go toward the SJS Scholarship Fund. Excess or unsellable uniforms are donated to charities. Committee members are on site to assist customers with their purchases during the sales. 

    Time Commitment: Flexible; contact the Used Uniform Committee Co-Chairs for scheduling.

  • Holiday Décor

    Co-Chairs decorate Flores Hall in advance of the Wassail Party. Decorating is usually scheduled the Friday before Thanksgiving Break or during the break (or after school hours), in advance of students returning to campus. Volunteers will decorate the Christmas trees (assembled by SJS Facilities Team) and arrange Christmas décor in Flores Hall and decorate the Hanukkah table. Co-Chairs may organize volunteers to assist. Love of decorating is a must!

  • Wassail Party

    Wassail is a reception in Flores Hall immediately following the Candlelight service. Volunteers are needed to help decorate and supply baked goods.
