Parents' Guild Volunteer Opportunities
All School Book Fair & Family Night
This year's "Camp Book Fair: S'More Fun with Reading" will be held in Flores Hall on Wednesday, October 10, and Thursday, October 11. Book Fair Family Night, which features visiting and community authors, music, and a delectable meal for the whole family, will be held in Flores Hall and on the Great Lawn on Thursday, October 11. Lower and Middle School students will hear from our visiting author and will have a scheduled opportunity to visit the fair with their classes and advisors. Parent volunteers are needed to set up the fair, organize displays, assist children with book selections, facilitate Family Night, and break down the fair.
Time commitment: Most volunteer shifts for Book Fair are approximately 1-2.5 hours

Cares & Concerns
Volunteers provide assistance to parent members of the Upper School community that need support due to challenging or extraordinary circumstances such as an injury, illness, or death in the family. Volunteers may be asked to provide meals, transportation, or other forms of assistance on an as-needed basis to help members of our own community.
Time commitment: Varies depending on the need, but typically is minimal

Faculty/Staff Appreciation
Volunteers are needed to provide drinks, fruit, and desserts for our faculty and staff on fall and spring teacher conference days. All items will need to be delivered to the US Faculty Lounge in time for the lunch. Volunteers also help with a luncheon given for the Upper School faculty and staff in the spring.
Time commitment: Less than 1 hour for each luncheon

Library
Volunteers are needed to help the librarians in a variety of ways, including shelving books, handling periodicals, and working at the circulation desk. You will also have the chance to work on special projects throughout the year, particularly after the Book Fair.
Time commitment: Volunteers work two-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, morning or afternoon, or Friday, morning. Typically, volunteers work the same shift every other week for the entire semester.

Textbook Distribution
Welcome back students and parents while reminiscing about summer vacations during Textbook Distribution. Volunteers are needed a few days leading up to the event to assist alphabetizing boxes of completed book orders from the Bookstore. Actual day-of-event shifts available for volunteers to staff tables and distribute textbooks and supplies. Distribution will take place Friday, August 10, in the Chao Family Assembly Hall.
Time commitment: Varied times to assist Chairs with organizing before the event. Approximately 3-hour shifts day of event

Used Uniforms
The Used Uniform Committee manages the used uniform sales. Volunteers are needed to sort donated uniforms and organize them for sale in the used uniform closet (Q205A). All proceeds go toward the SJS Scholarship Fund. Excess or unsellable uniforms are donated to charities. Committee members are on site to assist customers with their purchases during the sales. 
Time Commitment: Flexible; contact the used uniform committee chair in charge of scheduling.
