All School Book Fair & Family Night
This year's "Camp Book Fair: S'More Fun with Reading" will be held in Flores Hall on Wednesday, October 10, and Thursday, October 11. Book Fair Family Night, which features visiting and community authors, music, and a delectable meal for the whole family, will be held in Flores Hall and on the Great Lawn on Thursday, October 11. Lower and Middle School students will hear from our visiting author and will have a scheduled opportunity to visit the fair with their classes and advisors. Parent volunteers are needed to set up the fair, organize displays, assist children with book selections, facilitate Family Night, and break down the fair.

Food Bank
Lower School students engage in many meaningful projects that develop a habit of service and foster an awareness of needs outside the confines of St. John's. One of these projects is a weekly canned food drive benefiting the Christian Community Service Center (CCSC) Food Bank. Students are encouraged to bring donations of packaged food to their classroom on Fridays throughout the school year. Parent volunteers transport the donations to the CCSC each week of the drive.
Time commitment: Flexible; Volunteers may sign up for one or several delivery shifts throughout the year. Delivery time takes about 10-15 minutes.

Holiday Drive
The Holiday Drive takes place the second week in December and is a wonderful opportunity for our students to see firsthand the impact their service has on others. The drive provides everything from cooking tools and cleaning supplies to warm clothes and toys to families in need of assistance. One parent per Lower School classroom is needed to serve as a "Classroom Helper," which involves keeping inventory of gifts and assisting the children with boxing up their gifts. The SJS effort culminates with Class Five distributing the gifts to the families in mid-December.
Time commitment: Approximately 2 hours prior to the Drive and 15-30 minutes each morning the week of the Drive. Classroom Helpers in Grade 5 will need to allocate an additional 2 hours for planning prior to the Drive and 3-4 hours on Gift Delivery Day.
*Please note: Volunteer sign-ups for Holiday Drive will be available at the beginning of the school year with grade level activities.

Time commitmentsCirculation Volunteers: Regularly scheduled shifts 1-2 times per month (approx 2-hours in length). Circulation volunteers work during the late mornings - afternoon time frame.  Book Processing Volunteers: Flexible/drop-in shifts during the months of October and November.

Each year, moms and dads volunteer to photograph class parties, student performances, and a variety of other school functions. Parents then use the photos to create scrapbook pages capturing these wonderful memories. Parents who photograph class events do not create the corresponding scrapbook page unless they sign up to do so. Being a photographer and being a scrapbook page artist are two separate volunteer opportunities. If your time is limited, helping with the scrapbook for your child's grade is a great way to be part of the school year experience. Please join us! No experience necessary.
Time commitment:Most volunteer positions for Scrapbook are approximately 1.5-2 hours.
*Please note: Volunteer sign-ups for Scrapbook will be available at the beginning of the school year with grade level activities

Used Uniform
Volunteers help with monthly Used Uniform sales and with the larger beginning- and end-of-school sales, all of which benefit the St. John’s Scholarship Fund. Volunteers may purchase uniforms before the sale and during sale set-up. Occasional help may be needed to maintain the Used Uniform Closet, which is located in the Quadrangle of the Upper School campus. Regular monthly sales take place the first Friday of each month from 7:30-9:00 a.m.
Time commitment: approximately 1 hour for each sale event and time as needed for closet maintenance
