Congratulations to Kennadie Jake-Turner '18 for signing a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball with the University of Connecticut Huskies. Turner, a senior captain and middle blocker for the St. John's Girls' Varsity Volleyball team, helped guide the Mavericks to one of their best finishes at SPC in recent history.
"It's really special and to have people who have supported me over the years here to celebrate this moment with me," said Turner.
"Kennadie raised the bar for St. John's Girls' Volleyball," said Head Coach Karen Morgan. "She works hard and is a great role model for the players of the future. We asked her to lead this team and she was mature enough to take on that responsibility every day."
Turner led the team with 47 kills at SPC. Three years ago they did not qualify for the tournament. The last two years they held the sixth seed, and now they are they are no longer at the bottom of the bracket. The current squad also took all of the top three SPC seeds to five sets during the regular season. While Kennadie will be moving on to the next level, her legacy of leadership and excellence will be left behind for St. John’s Girls’ Volleyball to follow in the years to come.
