The 50th St. John's Maverick Relays was held on March 3rd and 4th at the McMurrey Memorial Track. Both teams finished 2nd place out of 43 teams in the field. There were many outstanding performances and SPC qualifers, plus a new school record for Katie Hasley '17 in the Discus Throw and meet records for the Boys 4x100 relay team (Will Marx '18, Collin Fullen '19, Ian Thakur '18, Genson Hooper Price '19) and Peyton Brown '17 in the 1600 meters.
Great performance at the 50th Maveick Relays! Katie Hasley upped improved her own school record in the Discus Throw, Peyton Brown broke her own meet record in the 1600 meters, Isabelle Paine won the 300 hurdles and anchored the winning 4x400 Relay with Peyton Brown, Molly Isaac, and Kat Smith. The boys 4x100 team of Will Marx, Collin Fullen, Ian Thakur, and Genson Hooper won the 4x100, Will Marx won the open 100 meters. Jarrell Sims won the discuss. The girls 4x100 finished 2nd, Isabelle Paine and Mycah Clay were 2nd in the 100 hurdles and 100m, and Kat Smith was 3rd in the 200m. The boys 4x400 was 2nd and Ian Thakur was 2nd in the 200 meters and Matthew Mercado was 3rd in the Javelin. Complete results are HERE (team scores for boys are incorrect!). This year marked the 50th Rebel / Maverick Relays, and we had a wonderful celebration of St. John's Track & Field Legends and alumni athletes from the 1960 through 2015 grads!
