MAVERICK MONDAY MAKE- MAVS GET PARTIAL REVENGE ON EAGLES

Sam Chambers
The Maverick Monday Make is a recap of significant sports highlights from the previous week.
Boys' Eighth Grade Basketball started off the winter season with the first piece of hardware by winning The First Baptist Tournament.  The Mavs soundly beat the Second Baptist 72-49 in the championship game and avenged their only football loss.   On October 22nd Second Baptist 8th grade football team scored 38 on the Mavericks.  St. John's did not get on the board like they did on Saturday.  There must have been quite a half time speech from coaches Soliman and Wilson, as St. John's had a one point lead at the sixteen minute mark.  Perhaps the players felt like they were still down by 37 points.
The Mavs posted victories over St. Mark's Lutheran and Northland Christian to get to the final and in the end they put up 23 more than the Eagles, including two slam dunks by Justise Winslow.  How they make up the remaining 15 will be determined at least on December 3rd when the Mavs host the Eagles in a regular season showdown.
